OxBridge-IT Project Management Approach
OxBridge-IT’s project management
approach will be based on use of standard Government methods including,
specifically, PRINCE 2.
Clearly projects do not exist
in a vacuum, the project management approach with compliment the solutions
development approach and more than technical complexity has to be considered.
Within the solution scope, within
the Dynamic Development Approach there are five overlapping areas of solution
scope;
| Application
Engineering - This is the heart of the project, involving the creation of
core customer centric solutions. This
stage will include the normal application development stages of design,
develop and test. The RAD
principles described above apply fundamentally to this solution stream.
| Process
Engineering - This is clearly collaborative (usually involving people and infrastructure
and assets) with all other solution streams, but basically is about
deploying new ways of doing goal centred activities for increased benefit.
| Infrastructure
Engineering – includes acquisition and installation of all hardware (PCs,
servers, etc.), software (product licences, development environment etc) and
network upgrades and recognises that the solution will require a stable,
resilient technical environment, during solution delivery.
| People - includes training and all the organisational change that will accompany the implementation of the proposed solution, such as the changes in business process, roles and organisation structure. | |
| Assets - includes
all the asset change that will accompany the implementation of the proposed
solution, such as premises acquisition and divestment. |
As project managing is after all
about managing complexity and as OxBridge-IT is focused on doing the right thing
right, sledgehammers are never used.
Both the systems development and
project management approaches are used for guidance as a function of best
practice not slavish adherence to dogma.
Cleary then Prince II and Dynamic
Development Approach will be used pragmatically to ensure fitness for business
purpose and maximised business benefit velocity.
